New Design Team Member - Sheena

Please give a warm welcome to the newest member of our Design Team

"Hello there x I'm Sheena.
I was brought up with the philosophy " make it, sew it, grow it, cook it" & I can't remember a time when I didn't do some sort of craft.
Having made cards for a number of years, I discovered scrapbooking in 2006 & made a hand full of layouts but my scrapping really took off in 2007 when I found & joined a local crop.
I really enjoy the social side of scrapbooking & enjoy chatting on forums, attending crops & going on retreats.
I tend to scrap my everyday life, kids & holidays & after years of staying behind the camera I have started to scrap myself in the past few years.
I'm not sure I have a style but even when I use paints & inks my pages still tend to have a clean feel to them.
I have designed for ScrapaGoGo since September 2009 and have the pleasure of working with their kits & teaching at their GoGo Getaway retreats.
I live in Coventry with my husband Paul, our 3 children, Dan, Matt & Harriet & 3 chickens. I'm an Intensive Care Nurse by profession but currently work alongside my husband in the business he runs."

Sheena's Blog is called Scraps and Scribbles can be found HERE.

Sheena was our lovely guest for November We look forward to seeing what Sheena designs for the Scrapology in the future, but in the mean time here are a few of her favourites:

Welcome on board Sheena.

How I made my Chicken Wire page - Linda

Our kit contains beautiful papers from My Minds Eye, The Sweetest Thing, Honey collection.
I started with Happiness Cheerful and gutted the centre. Cream puff bazzill was cut to 11" inked and added to the centre. My chicken wire is approximately 7x10" and was fixed in the first instance with 2 brads at the top. As it was very dimensional and didn't want to sit flat, I added some stitches where I knew it wouldn't show.

I cut the patterned panel from Perfect Best and added to the wire using foam pads and extra tacky glue. I had already cut out the bee which would have been under the photo panel for use elsewhere.
I also cut the honeycombe from the same sheet and added in the bottom right corner.
I am lucky to have a photo booth app on my phone so I printed my photostrip as below, (It's quite easy to do without too as you can mount small photographs onto white card) I mounted mine onto Yukon gold bazzill and tucked it under the bee and word strips, covering the hole where I cut the bee from. He was then placed to the top right.

I punched and shaped some 6 petal flowers from chablis bazzill and the leftover Happiness Cheerful and added punched centres and stickles, these were placed in two areas on my page.
The leaves are also a new punch (woodware green) which I tucked in around the flowers.
I wrote and cut out some journalling strips and added them to the panel.
We had been away for a weekend and had a mad few minutes taking pictures with the iphone app :)

The butterflies are a new Martha Stewart punch with stickle bodies.

Still time to enter the challenge which finishes on the 5th December.
Thanks to Lou for allowing us to scraplift her beautiful page!

How I made my November Layout - Crazy Girl

A reminder of my page for the November Scraplift challenge.

This month we are scraplifting the lovely Lou who is a fellow design team member. This is her original Layout.

Here is our sketch

Here is how I made my page:
The papers are from My Mind's Eye, The Sweetest Thing - Honey Collection
Gut the gold Bazzill to give me a frame 1" deep (12" x 12").

Trim the bee patterned paper to 11" x 11". Gut some of the cream paper from under where the photo mat will be placed about 3" x 3". Also cut the lettering strip 'One of a Kind' from the background and set aside. Stick this paper centrally over the gold frame.

Cut the floral paper to measure 6" x 4" round the corners and stick to right of honeycomb and roses detail.

Cut chicken wire to measure about 8" x 5" and attach to page with the two decorative brads near the top corners.

With four small photos, stick to white cardstock to appear like a photo-booth strip. Stick to centre of wire with 3D foam pads.

Using the Cricut I the Journalling plates and mats then stuck as shown to the left of the photo with 3D foam pads.  (All cut using the Lacy Labels cartridge. Cut in Cream 'To From' @ 3", Cut in Gold 'To From Shift' @ 3", Cut in Cream 'Hugs' @ 3", Cut in Pink 'Hugs Shift' @ 3". Also cut in Floral 'Welocme' @ 1 3/4", Cut in Gold 'Welocme shift' @ 1 3/4".)

Cut a bee in black cardstock and add to bottom of plates (Cut with Home Decor Cricut cartridge).

Punch a flower from the gutted paper, honeycomb side up, ink and curl petals and apply on top of title block to the right side with a sticky fixer pad. Cut title and add this over the top of the flower. (I used the Cricut and the 'Paisley' cartridge to cut the word  'Crazy'.) Apply off the edge of bottom right of wire using 3D foam Pads.

Make some clay flowers using Fimo Light and a Martha Stewart mold.  When dry paint these with the pink and yellow acrylic paints and glaze. Arrange on layout, sticking down with 3D foam pads or wet glue. Decorate these with the wired leaves, curling the wires round a pencil as you go.

Add some journalling by cutting patterned paper into 9mm strips to feed through the Dymo gun. cut into short lengths sand to reveal the white core where the letters are, then ink. Stick in place over the journalling plates.

Pop over to my blog for more information to see what the rest of the design team created and for more details of the challenge and prize.
