Welcome to Our New Design Team Member

Scrapology welcomes a new Design Team Member MARIA.  We are really pleased that Maria will start with us from 1st April, you may recognise Maria's work from UK Scrappers where she is known as ria979902. Here are a few words from Maria:

"My interest in scrapbooking started way back in 1981 with Lady Di & the Royal wedding! Although then I had hundreds of newspaper cuttings and used flour/water glue!

I've always been crafty and after trying card making went on to scrapbooks about 5 years ago. I use lots of embellishments & patterned papers on my Layouts, my style is definitely cluttered, which could easily sum up my house too!
I live in the sometimes sunny south west of England with my husband & 3 children and have recently become the proud owner of a allotment which is taking up a lot of my time!"

Maria has selected some of her favourite layouts to share. You can see more of her super work on UKS.

Pop back on the 1st of April for the first of Maria's Scrapology scraplifts.

How I made my March page

I used three sheets of Basic Grey Curio, from Cardinal Colours those flowers go a very long way! - I ended up with some over, so will make a card, or use them on another layout.

I used curio cotton (pink for background),

Ophelia for scraps behind background and flowers,

and then Camellia for more flowers and to cut the circle.

Using some bazzill (dark chocolate) as a base for my layout and gutted it to give me some over for mounting my photo later. I trimmed my cotton patterned paper down to roughly 11x11" with tattered torn edges. I tore further into the paper in a couple of places. All the edges were inked before placing onto the bazzill. I tore a couple of pieces from the Ophelia paper and tucked these into the spaces, so the turquoise flower base pattern shows through.

With a circle cut from the pink geometric side of the Camellia paper, I mounted my photo on some bazzill and cut round with some scalloped scissors. I arranged these onto the layout, but before sticking down the edges of  the circle I added the lace (only where it will show, to prevent too much bulk under the photo). I used less than half a yard of antique style lace.

Then came the cutting and layering of the flowers. The print is exactly the same on both sheets, the background is simply a different colour. I cut lots of flowers, and arranged the first layer into place. For the next two layers I curved them with my scissor blade, and added them with 3D Sticky Fixers foam pads to add dimension.

Further dimension was added by painting the finished flowers with Glossy Accents.

Here are some close up shots of the layering and glossed flowers.

I used stickles - 'Tiara' to dot around on big circle and 'Distress - Frayed Burlap' for stamen, and liquid pearls 'Perfect pink' for dots on photo mat.
The text is from a tatty secondhand poetry book, I distressed it further with some chalk inks.

The title was cut from the bazzill scraps using the Storybook Cartridge for the Cricut.

Please check back to the original challenge page for further inspiration from the rest of the DT - 'D is for Dimension'. Hope you will join in the challenge.

Thanks for looking.

D is for Dimension

Welcome to the March Scraplift Challenge.
This month, we are adding dimension to layouts using layering of papers and Glossy Accents.

We have scraplifted a stunning layout by the very talented scrapbooker Gabrielle Pollacco

Here are a few words from Gabrielle about herself:
"Hi everyone! I'm a stay at home mom of two wonderful girls and am married to the love of my life Steve. I started scrapbooking about 6 years ago when my sister introduced me to it and haven't looked back since! I would say my style is ever changing but if I were to name a style I'd say its 'shabby-chic/vintage'. I've been published in Creating Keepsakes Magazine, Memory Makers Magazine and Scrapbooking & Beyond Magazine, along with a number of online Magazines. I have been on a number of Designs teams in the past including Daisy D's, Zva Creative and am presently on the Design Team for My Creative Scrapbook, Bo Bunny and Webster's Pages."

Here is the pretty layout we chose from the many Gabrielle has on her blog.

We made a sketch for you and the DT to work from.

These are the layouts created by the DT to give you some inspiration.

Please join in the fun and create a layout using these pages for inspiration. We hope you will let us share your finished layout on this blog.
