How I made my July page II
Here is how I made my page for July, using Liz Qualman's design for inspiration........
For Liz's original layout and sketch, see the M is for Masks Challenge post. For more information about my layout see my blog.
I started with a sheet of white textured Bazzill. Using the Creative Expressions Leaves mask and Cosmic Shimmer Mist (Blue Lime, Ocean Sunlight & Aqua Lagoon), I sprayed the cardstock to create the background.
Wild Thing
and Vertigo
I cut a band of three stripes for the horizontal band from the Vertigo paper.
The three vertical strips were cut as follows:
Yellow side of Pebbles paper 2x9"
Green side of Vertigo paper 2x11"
Blue side of Wild Thing paper 2x8.5"
After working out the placement of photos and patterned papers, I gutted a panel from the cardstock. From this piece I cut four retro flowers using an EK Success punch. I stamped a journalling block onto the blue lined paper and matted it onto one of the patterned papers. The flowers were shaped with the scissor blade and attached with 3D foam pads to add dimension. Then I drew in detail with a black pen. The centres were created using the Bo Bunny Ad Lib rubber stamps, cutting the circles and adding them with more 3D foam pads.
For the photo mount I used the blue side of the Stripe paper cut to 5x7", decorating the corners with the Jazz corner punch.
I added doodles lines and patterns to the edges of the patterned papers and the cardstock.
The title letters were cut using the Cricut. The letters were cut in white and the shadows in patterned papers.

July Card Challenge - Anything but Square!
This month our challenge has been set by S-J creator of Little Musings.
The challenge is to make a card which is any shape except square. The DT have used images created by S-J which are available from the link above.
S-J said:
I am SJ, a mother of one and an illustrator.
I am the creator of "Little Musings" Clear and digital stamps.
I live in Bexhill by the sea (UK) with my husband and my dinosaur loving son.
I can mostly be found with a pencil, camera or scrapping stuff in hand. I spend my days with my little boy and a brain full of nonsense, which I put down on paper whenever I can!
I have a Clear Stamp line with Personal impressions, which have recently been featured on QVC.
My blog can be found here: http://www.scrappyfairy.blogspot/.
Here is the card S-J made:
And our DT
DEIRDRE - mmm, and a square one!
Thank you Allycat for joining in the challenge as our guest designer for July with this fun filled card. For more of Allycat's work please click on the link for her blog.
The challenge will run until the 15th of August and the winner will be announced shortly after.
Please check back in a few days to see what the lovely prize is.
This challenge is open to all crafters everywhere, as long as your card is not square!

How I made my July Challenge page
This months technique uses Masks and Cosmic Shimmer Mists to create a background.
I used white bazzill and layed the mask towards the top left corner then spritzed with Aqua Lagoon, and Blue Lime, then moved it lower and spritzed more Blue Lime and some Rich Gold which produced a less defined masked area.
The double sided papers are from the Bo Bunny, Ad-Lib collection - Wild Thing, Pebbles, Vertigo & Stripe
I cut some strips approx 5cm wide and 21cm/27cm long which I placed on the right.
A wavy line from the stripe page was cut and placed horizontally.
My photograph was divided into 5cm squares and I used paper strips for the journalling.
The title was cut with Ashlyn's Alphabet and covered with glossy accents.
Below is a close up of the masked area & the mask.
Stickles were added to the centres.
This is the original sketch.

I used the co-ordinating stamp set to create flowers on the patterned papers. Stamped twice, I cut out the the centres of the "rose" type flower, used an embossing tool to create dimension and layered them up.
The large flower was cut with the extra large retro flower punch and the centre cut from the patterned paper.
